What is No Churn Ice cream?

This common term has really only become popular in the last few years, so if you have no idea what it is, no worries!

Traditional ice cream is made with heavy cream and sugar and is churned in a machine to create the airy texture we know and love. Unfortunately not all of us own ice cream machines… but we still want to make ice cream!

Enter: no churn ice cream. Basically by whipping up the heavy whipping cream and adding sweetened condensed milk we are able to mimic the texture of churned ice cream.

By using this simple base you can create an unlimited number of ice cream flavors, all you need is your creativity!

What ingredients do you need to make this no churn ice cream recipe?

  • Heavy whipping cream
  • Sweetened condensed milk
  • Vanilla extract
  • Salt
  • Oreo cookies, regular and golden- I like to cut them in quarters so there are big chunks of cookie in every bite.

How to make ice cream at home without an ice cream machine?

Follow the easy step by step instructions to this super simple, really creamy summer (or all year round) treat.

Whip the heavy whipping cream in a standing mixer until the cream is whipped but still soft.

Fold the whipped cream into the condensed milk mixed with vanilla, gently, being careful not to mix too much and release all the air you just whipped into the cream.

Add in the cookie chunks and gently fold.

Place the ice cream mixture in a loaf pan or other container, seal well with plastic wrap and freeze.

How long does no churn ice cream take to freeze?

It needs at least 6-8 hours to freeze fully, I recommend freezing overnight for best results.
